CAMRA National Speciality Cider & Perry Competition 2017

REAL ciders and perries with REAL pure fruit, pure fruits, vegetables, honey, hops, herbs or spices (no concentrates, cordials or essences) were eligible.

Kent Round, held at the CAMRA Kent Beer Festival, July 2016

RESULTS

SPECIALITY CIDER

  • 1st: Kent Cider Co, Strawberry cider
  • 2nd: Kentish Pip, Elderflower cider

SPECIALITY PERRY

  • 1st: Kent Cider Co, Pear & Nettle perry
  • 2nd: East Stour, Cherry perry

An important element in the judging was that the ‘cider / perry aspect’ of these speciality ciders and perries came through. Those where you couldn’t distinguish the aspect did not get through to the final.

This competition is at an early stage of planning nationally so I am not sure whether the winners will go forward to a national final for 2017 but I will certainly keep you informed if I hear anything.

Many thanks to all who took part.

CAMRA Kent Regional Coordinator.
